Djibouti is often overlooked but as a more stable and safe place compared to its neighbours, this tiny haven is big on off-the-beaten-track experiences. Start out in Djibouti City, sampling the chaotic daylight hours, lively nightlife and rich foods. But to see the real beauty of Djibouti you need to get out of the city and travel to the lowest point in the African Continent, the Lac Assal or salt lake, walk the lunar landscape of Lac Abbé and trek up the green Goda Mountains. Snorkel with whale sharks in the Bay of Ghoubbet or just lie back and relax on the beach of Moucha Island.
