Although currently embroiled in war, when things return to normal and Libya is rebuilt, there will be plenty of reasons to visit this hidden North African gem. Getting a visa to the previously isolated country is easier than it used to be and the intrigue of venturing off the beaten path is an attraction. Libya is especially attractive historically, as the country is home to five UNESCO heritage sites. Leptis Magna is considered one of the most spectacular and well preserved ancient Roman sites in the entire Mediterranean region. Libya features a long and beautiful coastline and an expansive Sahara desert to the South to explore.
