Tripoli

Tripoli is the capital city of Libya and is located in the west of the country, on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. There are areas for shopping, sightseeing and historic sites. The Archaeological Site of Leptis Magna features Roman structures and the Archaeological Site of Sabratha has Phoenician ruins. Some of the historic places in the city are the Roman Arch of Marcus Aurelius, Ottoman Clock Tower and Tripoli Cathedral. There are market areas in the old Medina section as well as new shops around Tripoli. Soccer games are played at Tripoli’s June 11 Stadium.
