The Medina of Fes is an ancient area of the world that is a world heritage site. Tourists enjoy viewing the old area with its walls and exploring an area that does not have any automobiles. An example of Fes architecture from nearly a thousand years ago is the Bou Inania Madrasa. Dar al-Magana, Zaouia Moulay Idriss II, The Blue Gate of Fes and Al-Attarine Madrasa are other historical areas of the city. Fes, also spelled Fez, is the location of what could be the oldest university in the world, the University of Al-Karaouine.
