The Gambia

Because of its tiny size, 500km long and 50km wide, The Gambia is too often overlooked. Those in the know will tell you that along the coast are magnificent beaches you’ll find difficult to leave. If you can, make sure to get over to Georgetown Island. Inland is as remarkable and colourful as its people. Visit Klang West National Park or see how many of the 300 species of birds you can spot along the Gambia River. Your journey isn’t complete until you have heard a griot strumming the kora, visited the slaving stations of St. James Island and Jufureh and negotiated your way around the markets of Banjul.
