Dhaka

The biggest city in Bagladesh, and also the capital city, Dhaka is popular with tourists due to its variety of food, historical areas, wildlife and sport. International cricket is now played in Bangladesh. Major sports events take place at Sher-e-Bangla Mirpur Stadium and Bangabandhu National Stadium. Dhaka Zoo, located not far from the city centre in Mirpur, has more than two thousand animals on display. The popular attractions are the lions, tigers, baboons, monkeys, elephants and hippopotamus. The National Museum in Dhaka has exhibits on coins, sculptures and ivory among its collections. Dhaka, also spelled Dacca, is also home to the Lal Bagh Fort which is a historical site.
