Rabbit Island

Rustic, petite and for those seeking a real off-the-beaten-track island experience. Rabbit Island, located a few miles by boat from Kep in Cambodia, is a wonderful place to lie on a beach, eat incredibly fresh seafood and drink a cheap beer. Accommodation is of the beach hut variety so those seeking a plush visit may be a little disappointed but if you are willing to embrace your sense of adventure then you may find exactly what you are looking for. The restaurants, bars and simple cabins are family-run so there is a pleasant atmosphere but it may be best to arrive early in the day as the accommodation can be very limited and the tourists can arrive in swarms. Although fairly mild, the weather is often very pleasant and this allows for a nice, sunny but not too sweaty, walk through the surrounding jungle to the other side of the island where many of the families live. The western beach is the most popular and is where the accommodation is located due to the relative lack of wind and longer sunshine hours but the eastern beach is well worth a visit if you are seeking a remote island vibe.
