The capital of Indonesia, Jakarta is one of the largest cities in the world with a population approaching twenty million. The National Monument gives visitors the chance to view Jakarta from an observation platform 115 metres in the air. Jakarta Old Town is a part of the city where many of the Dutch buildings of Batavia are located, along with several museums and shopping areas. The National Museum of Indonesia has heritage objects from the times of Dutch rule as well as other countries, fossils and tools from ancient times, a large collection of coins and other money from around the world, exhibits of navigation equipment that were used by the many ships that visited Java and items detailing the tribes of Indonesia.
