Sapporo

A northern city of Japan, located on the island of Hokkaido, Sapporo offers something different for travellers. Previously a host city for the Winter Olympic Games, there are many facilities in and around Sapporo for sports. At the Mt. Okura Ski Jump Stadium is the Sapporo Winter Sports Museum which houses many exhibits and also has simulators for visitors to try speed skating and ski jumping. At the Botanical Garden at Hokkaido University tourists can view thousands of different plants as well as special rock displays. Other places to see in Sapporo include Hitsujigaoka Observatory, Moiwayama Ropeway, the Historical Village of Hokkaido and the TV Tower Observatory.
