Rangali Island

A private resort of the highest quality, Rangali is one of the most stunning island resorts in the Maldives, if not the world. Classing itself as a ‘perfect vision of paradise’, the resort owners may not be overstating their case after winning the 2005 ‘Best Hotel in the World’ award from British newspaper The Sunday Times. The wine cellar boasts 5000 different wines to choose from, selected by their own resident sommelier and these can be sipped in any of the 14 restaurants which provide incredibly high quality international food.

Part of the Alifu Dhaal Atoll, Rangali is actually the smaller of two islands; the larger island of Rangalifinolhu is home to the majority of the resort’s accommodation and activities whilst the smaller, more peaceful Rangali hosts some of the more serene villa-style accommodation. One of the most enjoyable experiences to be had in this stunning resort is to dine in the Ithaa Undersea restaurant. Yes, you did read that correctly…undersea. Located 5 meters below sea level and fully submerged, you dine in a wonderful restaurant where nature provides the wallpaper for you, be it Manta Rays, Turtles or schools of fish. The food is a combination of Maldivan and Western so there should be something for everyone. Although the Maldives Island archipelago is beautiful in its own right, this resort is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience true luxury.
