Kathmandu

Kathmandu is often the starting point for those who want to see the tallest mountain in the world, Mount Everest. Those who want to climb the 8,848 metre mountain will often arrive in Kathmandu and then travel to Lukla. As well as the Himalayas, Kathmandu attracts tourists to view their ancient buildings, sample their unique culture and taste the local foods. Temples like Changu Narayan, Swayambhu and Pashupatinath are popular with visitors. Many historic statues, artworks and sculptures are around the city, with some on display at the National Museum of Nepal.
