With what are often regarded as the best beaches in the Philippines, Boracay is a wonderful place to spend a few days and after only a short flight from Manila, you’ll feel like you have arrived in paradise. Although well-known to tourists, Boracay still retains an air of the rustic in parts so if you are seeking something more authentic it can still be found.
White Beach is the centre of the island’s entertainment with numerous bars and restaurants located in the vicinity and although this may sound like hell to a lot of travellers, it is a remarkably beautiful beach given the rampant tourism. If you are looking for something more remote and a little more idyllic then you should head to the stunning Puka Beach in the north of the island, where the beauty is plentiful but the people are not. As with any island that is firmly on the tourist trail, there are a huge number of places to stay and bars to drink in and most people tend to stay in the White Beach area for this purpose. If you enjoy windsurfing and kiteboarding, it should be noted that Boracay is a hugely popular haunt for enthusiasts due to the particularly strong headwinds.
