Damascus

Damascus, the capital city of Syria, is one of the oldest and most historic locations in the world and tourists travel there to view Old Damascus. An area with thousands of years of history, Old Damascus is the location of the Citadel of Damascus, the Azm Palace and also the walls and gates that in the past fortified the city. The National Museum of Damascus has many items that show the history of the area, including exhibits from Greek and Roman times. Some of the many historic buildings in the area are the Saladin Shrine, Chapel of Saint Paul, Mariamite Cathedral of Damascus and Saint Sarkis Armenian Cathedral.
