While there is an abundance of locations for shopping, entertainment, sports and recreation around Taipei they are overshadowed by one large landmark, Taipei 101. An example of modern engineering blending with the traditional style of Taiwan, Taipei 101 was the tallest building in the world when it opened in 2004 and held the record for six years. Other unique attractions to visit around Taipei include the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, National Palace Museum and the Shilin Night Market. To see the exciting plays and colourful mascots of the Chinese Professional Baseball League, watch the Brother Elephants play in Taipei.
