Phillip Island is 140km south east of Melbourne and is connected to the mainland by a bridge spanning from San Remo to Newhaven, a small town on the island. There is quite a bit to see and do on Phillip Island which is probably best known for being the home of the International MotoGP Motorcycle Grand Prix.
World Championship Superbikes and the Australian Touring Car Championships are held here as well as many other motor racing events. There are some quaint seaside villages dotted around the island with cafes, alfresco dining and loads of interesting shopping. Some amazingly clean beaches and untouched bushland with plenty of wildlife are a feature of the area.
You can take a Wildlife Coast Cruise, visit the Koala Conservation entre or the Nobbies Centre which is a marine experience you will not forget. Churchill Island Heritage Farm offers a glimpse back in time and the Penguin Parade is a delight. There are plenty of activities to keep everyone occupied. Drive yourself to the island or take the ferry.
