A perfect coral atoll in the Cook Islands with a beautiful central lagoon for sailing, swimming and snorkelling, Aitutaki is a perfect example of all that the South Pacific has to offer. When arriving by sea-plane from Raratonga, the most striking feature is the triangular shape of the reef, with its small inlets allowing boats to enter and also the dramatic shift in water colour from deep blue to the shallow turquoise of the lagoon.
There are a great deal of activities to do on the island including the obvious water sports and spa treatments but if you feel the need to do something more competitive, there are fishing competitions arranged for guests to snap up their own dinner.
One of the best things about Aitutaki is that there are options for all budgets; you can spend a night in a budget dorm, spend a little more and stay in a beachside bungalow or splurge on a beautiful private villa. Whatever you choose to do on this little piece of paradise, it is guaranteed that you will not forget it for the rest of your life. If you can bring yourself to leave, that is.
