Kadavu Island is actually a very small group of islands located in Fiji which are famed for their ruggedness and tranquil beauty. If you wish to travel around the island, it is best to do the journey by boat around the coast as the central belt of the island is so mountainous.
Most tourists tend to come to Kaduvu for the diving, which is reputed to be amongst the best in the world and is focused around the Great Astrolabe Reef, one of the largest coral reefs in the world. The island is also famed for its Manta Ray snorkelling which can be practised just a few feet offshore. Kadavu Passage is a rough stretch of sea that tends to attract surfers for the large swells and huge waves that are created here.
The accommodation is predominantly of the resort variety and is of a very high standard but bear in mind, the island does possess its own airport. The temperature is also naturally quite mild, allowing for sunbathing and swimming in temperatures that will not make you hide inside air-conditioned luxury. There are a great deal of other diversions for the active type, such as kayaking (generally available for free from your hotel), jungle trekking and fishing.
