Moorea

Regarded by some as being the most beautiful island in the world, Moorea is also a haven for those travelling on a budget as it is considerably cheaper than its neighbour Tahiti. The accommodation on the island is generally quite basic but that is where the charm lies; here you can wander amongst coconut groves and rest on beaches surrounded by bright blue water in a remote heavenly archipelago but without the major price tag.

There is a wonderful Tiki Village attraction on the island which is a great place to learn about the fascinating local culture, taste some regional food and be entertained by a troupe of native dancers. Many of the islands attractions are located inland due to the remarkable topography and there are a number of trekking opportunities be it on foot, on horse-back or on the back of a 4×4. For those seeking wetter climes there are a great number of diving and snorkelling opportunities, some of which are close by. Most, however, are a little out at sea where it is possible to feed sharks and rays if the thought of that doesn’t terrify you. Whatever you come to do, you will always remember Moorea.
