Coronet Peak

Coronet Peak is close to Queenstown which is on the edge of the outstandingly beautiful Lake Whakatipu, surrounded by majestic mountains. It is one of New Zealand’s premier snow fields.

At the base of the Coronet Peak there are excellent facilities and a lift to take skiers and boarders up the steep mountain. There’s an early tracks program and, on Friday and Saturday evenings, night skiing.

Visitors can often enjoy blue skies, panoramic views and great snow during the season which often lasts from June to early September.

Coronet Peak is family friendly and offers a Skiwi program which is sure to keep the children entertained so parents can explore the bowls.

The drive to the base of Coronet Peak, from Queenstown, takes around 20 minutes. Queenstown is popular with tourists throughout all four seasons of the year. The town buzzes even more during winter with plenty of nightlife, excellent shopping and restaurants.
On-mountain and ski-in ski-out accommodation (aside from club buildings) is uncommon in New Zealand but, in nearby Queenstown, there is a wide range of accommodation from affordable backpacker style rooms to classy hotels to suit the most discerning traveller.

Terrain: beginner 25%, Intermediate 45% Advanced 30% (including back bowls). The longest run is 1 mile or 2.4 kilometres.
