La Romana

With over 200,000 residents, La Romana is fast becoming one of the prime tourist destinations in not only the Dominican Republic, but all of the Caribbean. The city is home to numerous beach and golf resorts that draw foreigners to the sun soaked sandy beaches for some well needed R&R. This is without a doubt a resort city and the economy here is based on servicing the many travelers who come to stay here. While it lacks the history of many other Caribbean cities, the quiet beach vibe seems to be just what tourists are after.
