Santiago

Located in the Cibao Valley, Santiago is home to over 500,000 residents making it a very large city for the Caribbean. The city is located inland in the north central part of the country. The city continues to see rapid growth and modernization as it is being transformed in an effort to keep up with Santo Domingo. With a history dating back over 500 years, there is much to see in the way of historical attractions in Santiago. The strong, Dominican culture here is very unique and different from the big city of Santo Domingo possibly due to its inland location.
