This tiny island is home to one of the best beaches in the region and is hugely famous for the family of dolphins that live in the surrounding waters, making it easy, and popular, to swim with them. Although only available to visit on a day trip this is one of the most ‘Caribbean’ things that you could do, it is the perfect example of a beautiful island paradise. It is easy to get here from Nassau as many tour companies offer packages for visiting the island, these include the price of swimming with the dolphins as this is the main reason that so many visitors come here. The water is wonderfully warm and safe, allowing families to swim here with no dangers present and the dolphins are remarkably friendly, even allowing people to play with them, surely the highlight of any holiday to the Bahamas. Although there is no accommodation here it is hugely fun and a remarkable place to visit. The sand is fine and white and the striking appearance of the island, which was carved in two by a storm in 1991, lends it an otherworldly feel.
