Harbour Island

Harbour Island is one of those ‘dream’ Bahamian islands where everything is as perfect as it could be, stunning beaches and lazy days combine to create a holiday that you will not forget. Pink Sand beach is probably the most famous of all the beaches in the Bahamas and is a sight not to be missed. The amazing 3 mile long stretch is remarkably pink due to the microscopic creatures that used to live on the collapsed coral reef that formed the sand. The outlying reefs provide a wonderful breakwater to the beach, safely allowing swimming and snorkelling in warm waters teeming with life. The gentle waves are a wonderful place for would-be windsurfers to hone their skills.

Dunmore Town was once the capital of the region and is therefore home to some of the most beautiful and perfectly restored examples of plantation-era architecture, a few of which are available to stay in and provide a romantic backdrop to many a honeymooning couple. Harbour Island claims to be home to the best restaurants in the Bahamas and as there are a plethora of bars and nightclubs you should not be disappointed.
