Akrotiri

Found in the south of the island of Cyprus, Akrotiri is a British sovereign base that is largely uninhabited save for the military personnel and their families based there. The Akrotiri Peninsula is a beautiful, rugged piece of land all the more spectacular and pristine for its deserted status. An interesting day out will take you to the Monastery of St. Nicholas and the cats, where you can see plenty of the feline ancestors lounging around. While hiking around the peninsula is the best way to experience it, time out can be taken on Ladies’ Mile Beach.
