Kitzbuhel in Austria is the quintessential picture perfect ski resort. It has a very long pedigree as skiing began at this resort in 1892, but it is most famous for the extremely challenging Hahnenkamm Race that downhill skiers try to win each January.
A significant proportion of this resort is perfect for beginners and intermediates who will relish the perfectly groomed slopes and wide open runs.
The ski schools in the area offer a vast array of lessons, to suit all levels, by well trained and qualified instructors. With such legendary history of the Hahnenkamm Race, it’s no surprise that the ski school has lessons in downhill racing.
After a day on the slopes there is plenty to do in the 700 year old village with its narrow cobbled streets and walled centre. Restaurants are so numerous, that the biggest decision of the day just might be deciding where to dine. Nightclubs beckon those with energy to burn but if you want a more sedate activity there are atmospheric places to “take tea”.
Accommodation is plentiful. If you want to be in the area to soak up the atmosphere around race time then you must book early.
Terrain: 40% beginner, 45% intermediate, 15% advanced.
