Agen

Agen lies on the River Garonne and has many beautiful historic buildings. It is best known for its famous prunes and plums which are said to have been brought back from Damascus during the Crusades. There is a good arts museum and the local market reflects the rich agricultural area that Agen finds itself in. Agen makes an excellent base for exploring the Lot and Garonne areas with good cycling and walking in the countryside. There are some great restaurants and places to stay and a number of activity based holidays in this beautiful region of France.
