Grenoble

Grenoble is the capital of the French Alps and is a lively university town. The best way to see Grenoble is by taking the télèferique to Fort de la Bastille where the view is fantastic across the city and the mountains. Grenoble has several museums including one on the local natural history. It is an excellent base to explore the Alps and for walking and mountain biking and the city is full of good bars and restaurants. Further afield the Chartreuse and Vercors Massifs are just a short drive away and perfect to experience the great outdoors.
