Lourdes

Lourdes is located just south of Pau and is a major pilgrimage site for Roman Catholics. This is the town where a young girl had several visions of the Virgin Mary and many pilgrims come to Lourdes to the Grotto looking for a cure. There are many churches in town and shops selling rosaries, all focused on the Grotto de Massabielle itself where the action and prayer takes place. Overlooking Lourdes the Castle is another interesting place to visit and the Musèe Pyreneen is an excellent guide to the local area.
