Mulhouse

Mulhouse is a large industrial town in Alsace which has a number of interesting museums. These include a railway museum, one dedicated to cars, and another to fire engines. There are some good local shops and a market, some great pavement cafes to watch the world go by and some typically Alsatian restaurants. Mulhouse makes a good base to explore the rest of Alsace which has a good wine growing region, some beautiful old timber framed buildings in the villages and a style of its own being a mix of French and German.
