Tours

Just an hour away from Paris by TGV, Tours is the main city in the Loire Valley. There is a lovely old town and some interesting museums celebrating wine, stained glass and crafts, and like any typical French town a great market and good local shops. Tours is an excellent base for exploring the great Chateaux of the Loire Valley as most are within a short drive of the city. Some of the most notable include Chateau Villandry, Chateau Amboise and Chateau Langeais which are spectacular to visit. Nearby Vouvray is a famous wine producing centre, also worth a visit.
