Aachen

One of the most historic places in Europe, Aachen is a laid back student city which was once at the very heart of Emperor Charlemagne’s rule. This is a city with many old and cultural buildings including the fourteenth century town hall, Haus Lowenstein and the Zum Postwagen Restaurant. Aachen is home to the International Newspaper Museum, the largest of its kind in the world and is also known for the University of Technology as well as a vibrant and colourful Carnival. The International Charlemagne Prize is awarded annually in Aachen to commemorate outstanding achievement in European unity. This is a city with a real buzz.
