Dortmund

Once at the heart of the steel industry in Germany Dortmund is a vibrant cultural city. It is best known for its industrial heritage which can be seen in the Hoesch Museum and also in the fascinating discovery trail around the city. Dortmund is famed for its brewery and in recent years has reinvented the cultural side of the city. The Schauspielhaus or opera house, the Ostwall Art Museum and the Domicil Jazz venue are all examples of a new artistic feel to this city. With an excellent shopping centre and some great cafes and bars Dortmund is worth a visit.
