Heidelberg

One of the most popular visitor destinations in Germany Heidelberg Castle and Old Bridge dominate this historic town on the banks of the Neckar. With 700 years of history the castle is one of the most impressive in the country and just a short walk away the Market Square has its own charm with grand merchant houses, narrow winding streets and delightful restaurants and shops. The Kornmarkt is arguably the prettiest square in Heidelberg with its fountain and there are many quiet places to discover in this beautiful town. Heidelberg is of course famous for its drinking and throughout the city there are lots of beautiful old student pubs where visitors can try some of the local tradition for themselves.
