Aosta

Aosta is a combination of architectural and ancient culture and rich mountain scenery in its position on a plain surrounded by the Alps. There is Roman architecture all over town dedicated to Emperor Augustus and medieval buildings from the time of the Dukes of Aosta. Many people come here to visit the Roman ruins which include the Forum and amphitheatre. This is also a popular sporting centre attracting skiers, walkers and climbers to the mountains. Aosta is simply charming and located in a beautiful alpine setting and little wonder it has been called “Rome of the Alps.”
