Bari

Once a commercial centre under the Romans, Bari rose to become a significant maritime centre. It is the capital of Puglia and is a lively and vibrant town which has ferry crossings between Greece and Croatia. One of the finest churches in Puglia is the Basilica di San Nicola in Bari, and the area around Bari Castle is where most historic sights are clustered. Most people pass though Bari on the way to catching a ferry but it is worth looking at this beautiful town a bit closer as it has a lot to offer.
