Cagliari

Cagliari is the capital of Sardinia which has been occupied by Phoenicians, Romans and Carthaginians, all adding to the rich architecture and archaeological finds around the city. The old part of Cagliari has a North African appeal and the high Castello is a real feature. The city has towers and churches to explore and many wonderful cafes and restaurants to try regional specialties. There is a lovely marina with expensive looking yachts and boat trips to coves and islets off the coast. With beautiful beaches just a short distance away Cagliari is a popular holiday destination.
