Cremona is a major agricultural town but is most famous for its music. This is where Stradivarius made the best violins in the world and where the composer Monteverdi lived. Dominated by the beautiful Piazza del Commune this is a stunning place to explore starting with the Duomo. The bell tower or Torrazzo is linked to the Duomo by a renaissance loggia with a beautiful façade and a real feature of the town. The Museo Stradivariano is an excellent place to learn more about the violin maker’s life and the Palazzo del Commune has a collection of rare violins of interest to music fans.
