Messina

Messina, a beautiful Sicilian town, has suffered from the ravages of earthquakes for centuries. There are many beautiful buildings in the city however, including the Museo Regionale which has paintings by Carravaggio and Antonello da Messina. The Fontana d’Orione is the finest example of 16^th century fountains in Sicily, and the Fontana di Nettuno is another beautiful piece celebrating the seafaring culture. Local restaurants specialise in seafood and typical Sicilian cuisine which often includes a lot of lemons. Nearby Taormina is a popular holiday resort on Sicily and has striking views of Mount Etna.
