Siracusa

During the 5th to 3rd centuries BC Siracusa was a prominent Greek city and according to Cicero the most beautiful. In 211 the city fell to the Romans and on the Ortiga peninsula the Duomo is a striking feature of this town. Many people come to visit the ancient Greek and roman artefacts including the Doric Temple of Apollo. The Archaeological Park is very interesting with a lot of local finds.  Fonte Aretusa is the point where Aretusa emerged from the ground after being changed into a spring by Artemis to help her escape Alpheus, her lover.
