In medieval times this whitewashed port in southern Italy was full of seafaring activity and was originally Jewish. It was visited by traders from all over Italy at its peak and today is frequented mainly to see the Duomo which was built in the 12th century. The castle is also a point of interest here in this quiet town and the Palazzo Caccetta is another beautiful residence surviving through the centuries. Trani is a quaint place to explore and watch the world go by from a café, and taste the local seafood.
