Madeira

An island covered in pineapple trees and dramatic vistas, low clouds were born to hug this island. The low sitting harbour has succumbed to floods in the past but the remarkably fresh food and incredible views entice more travellers year after year.
Due to the high level of tourism on the island there is a vast supply of hotels to stay in, many having bars and restaurants attached but you will not find any short supply of food or beverages on Madeira. Madeira wine is a famous tipple with a high alcohol content which allows it to last for a long time. Commonly drank as an aperitif, the wine can be found in abundance and purchased easily on the island.

The island is dominated by a huge central peak which can be reached by travelling on the cable car from the port and is a wonderful way to see the best views of Madeira. The port area is home to many romantic restaurants, the best being a boat restaurant that was once owned by The Beatles and has service of the highest order. Travel around the island is easily done by car or taxi.
