Burgos

Burgos was the capital of Old Castile for over five hundred years. The dark stone old town and imposing castle reflect the power the town once had. Burgos has been associated with El Cid from the eleventh century. The Gothic cathedral is one of the best in Spain. Today Burgos is a military town and the best time to visit is June for the Fiesta de San Pedro when there are bullfights and all night celebrations in town. There are some good restaurants and bars in Burgos and interesting local shops to explore.
