Cadiz

One of the oldest settlements in Spain, Cadiz is steeped in history and has been a major port for centuries. It was at its best in the eighteenth century when the port grew through trade in Spanish-American gold. Inner Cadiz where the old part of town is located has an air of mystique about it with large open squares and sailor’s houses. The sea fortifications in Cadiz are very striking and together with the cathedral give the town a historical air. Cadiz is a relaxing and friendly place and with its nautical air a place to appreciate the past in Spanish history.
