Girona

The ancient walled city of Girona is perched on a fortress type hill and has been fought over for centuries. Once an Arab town it has many types of architecture and is full of history and culture. The centrepiece of town is the cathedral, a huge Gothic building with stained glass and intricate stone carvings. The Museu Capitular has a lot of religious art and is another popular attraction in Girona. The city of Girona is within easy driving distance of the Costa Brava making it a potential day trip on a beach free day.
