La Coruna was the departure point of the Spanish Armada and has a rich maritime history. Today it is a modern port in Galicia and a major transport hub. The archaeological museum is very interesting to visit and the walled Jardines de San Carlos another attraction. The grandest square in town is the Praza Maria Pita and the perfect place to sit in one of the many cafes and watch the world go by over a coffee. With delightful old streets and some interesting coastline this is a charming area to explore.
