Santander

Santander is an elegant resort a little like its Basque neighbours at Biarritz or San Sebastian. It is best known for its beautiful beaches with the surrounding mountains and neighbouring port as a backdrop, and is an arrivals destination for ferries from England. Santander is known for its International Jazz Festival held each summer in the town. The town centre has its cathedral and arts museum but being a seaside resort the main attraction are the beaches and sand dunes along the coast. Playa de la Magdalena is one of the most popular and windsurfing is just one activity available to visitors.
