Tarragona

Tarragona is an ancient place perched on a rocky hill above the sea. Under the Romans this was a fortified city with temples and other beautiful buildings which can still be seen in part all over Tarragona. The city has a medieval area as well with the cathedral as its focal point. Nearby a Roman aqueduct is a popular sight with visitors and many come to see the museums with locally excavated artefacts. Tarragona, the second largest city in Catalunya, has good beaches and its coastal location means that the local seafood is always good and fresh.
