Did you know that Polar Bear fur is actually clear? The people of Svalbard do. Norwegians discovered Svalbard in the 12th century. These islands contain rugged mountains and fjords along the north and west coastlines. They are the homeland of polar bears and seals that play over patches of white ice. It is a beautiful arctic landscape with quaint cafes and cozy cottages. For something out of the ordinary your family could even choose to stay in a fisherman’s cabin along the waterfront. Hiking, camping and kayaking are summer activities and winter boasts dog sledding, skiing, and racing rides on snowmobiles. From ice caving to glacier walks, your trip will be a long-lived memory.
