Brighton

The windswept southern shore of England is the reason Brighton is so popular. Brighton is a nostalgic old Victorian beach town that still attracts with its whimsical architecture, beaches, and because it is within an hour of London. Children love the arcades at Brighton Pier. There are trendy boutique hotels, fabulous restaurants, and late night dance clubs. You can pub hop here as well. There is even a palace to visit. The Royal Pavilion is a fantastical yet beautiful 19th century edifice with minarets, gilded palm trees and a dragon chandelier. And do not miss your fish and chips and thrilling rides on the Pier!

We went down to Brighton on the train and an easy 50 minutes from London Victoria railway station. From the station is about 10 minutes to the sea front and Brighton Pier. Well worth walking to the end and looking back towards Brighton.

The Royal Pavilion is interesting and a highlight is the dining room all laid out for a banquet.

The Laines are fun and we found a great Italian restaurant Al Duomo which ws very good value and very busy.
