Vatican City

The centre of the Catholic religion, the Vatican City is the home of the pope, the head of Catholicism. Situated within the city of Rome in Italy, the Vatican is officially the smallest nation in demographic size in the world, with around 800 citizens. The architecture in this area is astounding, and there is much exploring for the historian to do at the Vatican, and St Peter’s Basilica complete with the Michelangelo-designed dome is a wonderful discovery, while the Swiss Papal guards make find another interesting sight. The Vatican City is a photographer’s dream.
